Will the iPhone change the way networks are used?
In a New York Times article on this week's iPhone launch, there is speculation that because the iPhone can access wi-fi as well as cellular networks, traffic may move away from the telephone cellular networks. iPhone users can view YouTube videos using a WiFi network rather than the AT&T cellular network. The point out that owners of Apple products stay faithful. "Apple makes it easy," said Sony VP Bill Sanders. "Phone companies and their cellular networks don't make the user experience easy." The conjecture is that iPhone users may shift the traffic to WiFi, away from the cellular network.
